DJ let go yields this double quality of shedding, emptying, gutting even, pop songs –especially those that can sometimes feel so overbearingly omnipresent– and turning them into washes of noise. Gutting the acoustic register was a kind of landscape making ritual; like the desert described by Miranda Suarez. But this desert making is not the end at all. In these noisy disintegrated landscapes, the potential then emerges for another mode of mourning that is dancy, raving, and communal (and more traditionally DJ).

Ancient Magicians: Entrée
Five Magicians – four dancers and one harpist – fill the room with their bodily enchantments. Their magical operations conjure forth mighty, transcendent invisible forces, to forge a new kind of harmony  with them. This waltz on the extreme boundaries of bodily existence is the first preview of a performance  premiering in March 2024 at Zodiak – Center for New Dance.

Performers: Leila Kourkia, Veli Lehtovaara, Leena Nordberg, Elina Pirinen, Katri Tikka

Light & sound design: Mikko Hynninen

Costume design: Jouko Korkeasaari

Directing: Esa Kirkkopelto

Producer: Inari Pesonen

Production and sponsors: The Finnish Cultural Foundation Uusimaa Regional Fund, Zodiak – Center for New Dance, Baltic Circle Festival and Tampereen Työväen Teatteri

DJ MORA
Specializing in the complexities and origins of sonic soundscapes and rhythmic motion, keeping their forms of art politically present, this genre-polyglot pays homage to the existence of what once was and steps onto the forbidden grounds unwritten.

Through powerful and ancient cultural references made modern, MORA breaks and remakes patterns to express freedom of humans being, humans becoming.

Experimentalism, exploration and expressiveness, and the core of post-emotional deconstruction of the reconstructed; leaving a mark without a trace.

For Baltic Circle’s Love in November they underline their Middle-Eastern heritage and solidarity for Palestine with a heavy heart. The 2-hour set includes post club compositions that portray these soundscapes merged with various instrumental and vocal elements. Feel free to feel, whatever you need to. <3
