Peeter Jalakas & Von Krahli Teater (EST): The Magic Flute. Remixed and Explained

Originally “The Magic Flute” – an alchemical tragedy – featured the whole of Von Krahl Theatre’s troupe and a number of guest actors and dancers. A little while later there were supposed to be additional performances at the festival Baltoscandal. However, by this time the Von Krahl cast had tied itself to independent projects outside the troupe and were forced to say no to the director. The theatre director’s one-man show – where he was assisted only by the theatre’s technical staff – became at times even more popular than the initial play. In the version presented in Helsinki, the manly team is complemented by the musicians Eva Alkula and Sirje Mõttus.

It is all because of the oil. The Norwegian Way is a dive into the self image of Norway and the problem of the oil, the possible connection between money and happiness, and an exploration of what possibility art has to change the world.
